Our Co-op sets out
to encourage a balanced healthy diet
THOUGH QUALITY MEATS
Our co-op members are small holders that raise livestock on permanent unimproved meadows within the wey valley catchment. The members focus on native breeds of both beef cattle and sheep as they fit with conservation agroecological land management.
Each member manage their herd or flock in harmony with the environment and landscape with the goal of producing the very best meats
Each members,, through their own blog offered information as to the their farm and progress of their animal offspring through to maturity and signalling availability
Therefore clients can follow each member/producer and have full understand of the provenance of the meat marketed through the co-op
Upper Unstead Farm
Neil's farm
Tom is a new entry farmer, recently taken over Upper Unstead farm from his grandfather and is expanding the farms acreage through close association with national trust.
Tom manages a pedigree Red Ruby Devon suckling beef herd. The offspring remain with their mother for 10 months before being weaned and separated and run as a family on separate parts of the farm. The family structure of the herd are maintained throughout and is seen as important part of the animals well being as it eliminates stress. All stock are grass fed and enjoy species rich forage, which is widely known to have positive impact on the nutritional quality and flavour of the meat product which is already appreciated for its overall qualities.
