Local small holders, members of the not for profit co-op, are dedicated to rearing livestock in harmony with the environment.

The vision is to promote local produce via a comprehensive online presence which differentiates itself from other online farmer/butchers. To achieve the vision a wide range of traditional innovative cuts will be offered along with information that illustrates the origin within the carcass and craft behind preparing the product. .The products will be complemented with extra recipes, cooking advice that support the customers maximise their experience of a quality product.

Our co-op members

The co-operative provides the opportunity of its members to engage with local discerning consumers who are equally passionate about preserving local, small scale livestock production that adheres to the highest animal welfare standards. While also adopting low input land management which fosters permanent meadows with increase ecological diversity and habitat creation.

Each member raises a different native breed thereby allowing the co-op to offer a wide selection through the web portal.

The co-op members are committed to low input animal husbandry and landscape management through adopting agroecological principles. Thereby ensuring farming works in harmony with the local environment.

ANIMAL HUSBANDARY IS A TOP PRIORITY

As individaul famer and as a cooperaive we striive to obtain the highest animal wlefare standards possible. 

Livestock are reared with an emphasis on ensuring overall animal welfare and well being. To achieve this goal animals are raised within a 'family' structure and allowed roam and graze extensive system which offers mixed herbage rather a single dominant grass species.

As a result the requirement for veterinary medical intervension is kept to a minimum.

Natural permenant pasture

All livestock raised is grass feed and grazed, almost exclusively on permanent meadows. A significant proportion of the meadows are wet and form part of the flood plains which are designed to protect property adjacent to the river Wey from inundation.

 

By adopting extensive grazing and prescribed land management the meadows support a rich diversity of plant flora which in turn brings a number of health and product benefits.
